"NovoVirgen" and "TwoLovers." Cantu's Mexican Imports. Austin, TX. 2010
Oct 2010. Austin, TX.
Pictured above is one of the murals we worked on at Cantu's Mexican Imports. It is an interactive, fortune-telling mural called "Two Lovers." "Two Lovers" uses smart-tag technology to turn the painting into a new type of magic-8 ball. Ask the wall a question and use your app-enabled phone to get the answer. Need love advice? Ask the wall and get back an answer. The paintings were exhibited on Dec 18th, 2010. Paintings were designed by Fernando Pinon and Michelle Josey. Interactive capabilities are made possible by microsoft's tag- download the tag reader app at www.tag.microsoft.com Pictured to the left is a second mural that was painted on the south side of the building. The painting, titled "NovoVirgen," depicts the religious image of the Virgen de Guadalupe amid a psychedelic array of flowers. The imagry takes some inspiration from street murals found in Rio de Janeiro. *FEATURED PHOTO in "Austin-American Statesman" |
